About the Criminal Law forum

The Centre for Criminal Law at Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai has been set up with the objective of promoting Research, Group Discussions, Training and Policy Analysis in the field of Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Criminology and Victimology. The Centre is engaged in various endeavours such as research projects including the evaluation of fast track courts; study of hate crimes and development of counter measures; victim friendly prosecution; and victim justice. The Centre aims to regularly conduct workshops, seminars, training programmes, conferences and symposiums on the above-mentioned subject areas.

Objectives

1. To promote research and action in the selected areas of victim justice, criminology, penology and victimology.

2. To hold group discussions, seminars and conferences in order to guide and inform people.

3. To undertake specific research projects in the above-mentioned areas

4. To propose training programmes for various wings of criminal justice system, including the stakeholders in the field of juvenile justice

5. To analyse and critically examine the laws, policies and programmes from the standpoint of victim protection, rehabilitation, participation, and justice

6. To strive for providing research in the legal education a substantive holding at graduate and under graduate level.

7. To organize student-centric initiatives in the form of victim advocacy, legal clinic and outreach programme for extending victims support services.

8. To undertake publications and coordinate with the various National and International agencies working in the broader areas of victimology and criminology.
