Overview: Annual Cultural Committee Events 2024–25

The Vividh and Cultural Committee provides a platform for students to develop and showcase their talents and skills in various creative fields; from dance, music and drama, to visual arts, such as painting and photography. Every year, the committee holds a talent show, Voyage, for freshers. It also celebrates Traditional Day and Annual Day.

The Cultural Committee at PGCL plays a unique and vital role in nurturing the soul of the campus. While the academic environment hones critical thinking and legal skills, the Cultural Committee ensures that students find a space for creativity, community, and self-expression. The year 2024–25 was marked by a vibrant calendar of events that celebrated the essence of student life beyond textbooks and case laws. From organizing thematic celebrations on campus to encouraging intercollegiate participation, the Committee curated experiences that brought the student community together through music, dance, drama, and shared memories. Here’s a detailed overview of the year’s highlights:

Independence Day Celebration – Memories of India’s First Independence Day

Date 14th August 2024 | Venue: Moot Court Room (MCR)

The 78th Independence Day was commemorated with reflection and reverence. A large hand-crafted visual display outside the library recreated significant moments from 15th August 1947. Inside the MCR, the atmosphere was patriotic and proud with group singing, cultural dance performances, and a quiz on Indian history. Rangoli art and thematic painting adorned the venue, reinforcing the values and pride associated with India’s freedom struggle. It was an emotionally charged day that allowed budding lawyers, to reflect on their roles in a free democracy.

Raas-Garba Night – Celebrating Navratri

Date: 5th October 2024 | Venue: Moot Court Room (MCR)

The Committee celebrated the spirit of Navratri with Raas-Garba, an event that turned the Moot Court Room into a whirl of color, rhythm, and tradition. Students from across all years participated, dressed in traditional attire, dancing to lively beats with infectious enthusiasm. Special awards were given out for “Best Dancer” and “Best Dressed”, enhancing engagement. A traditional photo booth setup allowed students to capture the evening — a night of unity, joy, and cultural pride.

Freshers’ Talent Show – Voyage

Date: October 2024 | Venue: Moot Court Room (MCR)

Voyage, the fresher’s talent show, welcomed the first-year batch with a warm and exhilarating experience. A stage was set for students to showcase their creative side through singing, painting, comedy, and more. The highlight of the event was the title of “Mr. and Ms. Voyage”, awarded based on three creative and personality-based rounds: Introduction, Q&A, and a Ramp Walk. The show wasn’t just a talent hunt; it was a symbolic gateway to the start of a transformative journey in law school.

Theme Days – Where Every Day Wore a Mood

To break the academic monotony and foster campus camaraderie, the Cultural Committee curated a week of theme-based celebrations  that transformed the college atmosphere with laughter, style, and fun.

Twinning Day (14 February): Friends, siblings, and squads coordinated outfits to celebrate friendship and bonding.

Bollywood Day (15 March): Students dressed as iconic Bollywood characters, filling the campus with drama, flair, and cinematic spirit.

Traditional Day (17 March): The rich diversity of Indian culture was on full display as students donned ethnic wear with elegance and pride.

Mismatched Day (18 March): A quirky and joyous celebration of creativity, where the weirder the combination, the better.

These themed days reflected the inclusivity and fun that defines PGCL’s student culture.

Annual Day – Celebrating Achievements and Community

Date 19th March 2025 | Venue: Juhu Jagruti Hall (JJH)

The year culminated in a grand celebration — the College Annual Day hosted at the Juhu Jagruti Hall. This formal event was a tribute to the achievements, resilience, and spirit of the student body. The ceremony was graced by faculty, staff, and students, and featured a series of energetic performances in music, dance, and stand-up comedy — a reflection of the talent cultivated throughout the year. The prize distribution ceremony honored academic toppers, cultural performers, student leaders, and committee members. Volunteers received heartfelt recognition for their relentless support throughout the year’s activities. The evening ended on a note of gratitude and celebration, marking the close of an unforgettable cultural year.

The year 2024–25 was more than a year of events — it was a celebration of community, identity, and balance. The PGCL Cultural Committee succeeded in creating a lively, inclusive, and emotionally rich campus culture that reminded everyone that law school is not just about learning the law, but about living life fully.
