Academic Year 2025-2026
The Literary Society – was founded in the year 2007. It has been nearly two decades of the Society’s marvelous journey, having on-board, from yard to yard, literary wizards – folks who find themselves drawn to the magic of poetry and the scent of books. Since its inception, L’avocat has envisioned the celebration of literature and the enhancement of literary abilities amongst our students, in all its endeavors. The craft of language, both written and spoken, is deeply embedded in the legal profession and all its allied areas. The aim of this literary society is to provide opportunities to students for sharpening their critical thinking and artistic expressions through debating, reading, creative writing, and many other literary accomplishments.
Our Publication: Founded by literary enthusiasts at PGCL, L’avocat has successfully released the Monthly Issues and the Annual Issues, publishing all writings – literary pieces, academic essays, and research articles – providing an all-inclusive platform, nurturing the tradition of reading and writing amongst students. In May 2025, L’avocat released its 1st Bimonthly, Multilingual Literary Magazine. This magazine inscribes L’avocat’s metamorphosis into a core literary magazine as it now veers to a landscape adorned simply with literary creations. Published bimonthly (once in two months), our multilingual magazine features literary works in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati, penned by PGCL students. The annual magazines will present a selection of the best pieces curated from the bimonthly magazines. The intention is to encourage literary diversity – in language and form. L’avocat believes that creativity is universal and home-grown at the same time; it’s not the hallmark of a single script, nor is it wound around customary meters and rhymes schemes. In a culturally diverse, language-rich society, a literary magazine must encourage and instil wholesome love for literature. The magazine also includes a special feature – About Books – The segment brings news about books – bestsellers, award-winners, world classics, some unheard, hidden gems, and more.
Our Events: L’avocat’s musings are at their deepest when we delve into the mysteries of literary endeavours as we organise our yearly literary events: An annual intra-college debate competition – Debatte – debaters at PGCL argue, analyse and assert their views as they whet their debating, public speaking, and team-building skills; a poetry recitation session – Awaaz – where PGCL poets recite their poetic pieces with love and ambition; book club meets that include discussions on books that we love and treasure; and a literary festival organised exclusively for first-year students – Freshers – that invites concocting twists to tales, role-play debates, poetry performances, and cunning crime-scene investigations. L’avocat also facilitates our students’ participation in various inter-college literary festivals and competitions.
