Overview:
L’avocat Sub-Committees – AY 2024-25
L’avocat’s Editorial Board is the only college magazine that publishes pieces surrounding not only literary, as well as on themes surrounding legal, political, socio-legal and also publishes short stories and poems.
As part of the Editorial Team, members are in charge of garnering submissions to the monthly and annual magazine, editing and scrutinizing the submissions to match the quality mark of L’avocat’s publication. The Editorial Team often collabs with other sub-committees to organize workshops on research paper writing and other allied interests.
Debatte tries to inculcate the skills of public speaking and reasoning in students. Debatte organizes the Freshers Debate and its annual flagship event The Intra-College Debate every year. Furthermore, it also organizes training sessions for students to equip them with the necessary skills of debating.
Debatte believes that at its core, debating is the art of reason and critical thinking. In pursuance of this, Debatte strives to introduce students to new and novel styles of debating competitions.
Book Club is committed to providing a platform to students to cultivate their personal expression through writing. Book club organizes ‘In conversation with an Author’ sessions to facilitate interactions between students and published authors. Further, the club organizes its annual flagship event – The Book Review Competition – every year with the goal of motivating students to read, analyze and review classic pieces of literature.
The Quiz Club of L’avocat engages students in intellectual activities by organizing a variety of quiz competitions and events. The club typically conducts intra-college quizzes wherein students compete within the institution, national-level quizzes wherein participants are invited from other colleges to compete, fostering a culture of knowledge and quick thinking. Additionally, the quiz club organizes crime scene investigation during fresher’s week. Through these diverse activities, the quiz club cultivates a vibrant academic and social environment on campus.
Aawaz intends to introduce an appreciation for the finer arts of life, such as poetry. The poetry cafe organizes poetry meets and recitals around the year and strongly encourages the notion of sharing the simple art of poetry. The poetry cafe also hopes to act as a platform for young poets to step up on the stage and set their art free.
